Comprehensive Excel Course

Part One (Beginner Level)

A structured course outline designed for beginner classes. Each section is divided into modules with clear learning objectives to ensure progressive skill development. The full course is offered at an affordable fee as follows

  • Duration: 3 weeks (9 sessions, 90 Mins/session)
  • Time: 7:30PM-9:00PM
  • Meeting: 2-3 times a week
  • Requirements: Computer/Laptop, Microsoft Excel 2016+ Version/Office 365, Internet
Module 1: Introduction to Excel & Interface Navigation

Outcome: Participants will navigate the Excel interface and understand the structure of workbooks and worksheets.

  • What is Excel? Use cases
  • Excel workspace: ribbons, tabs, columns, rows, cells
  • Workbook vs Worksheet
  • Basic spreadsheet navigation & customization

Outcome: Participants will learn to accurately enter and format data to create clean and readable spreadsheets.

  • Entering & editing data
  • Formatting cells; number, text, date, currency
  • Copy-paste, AutoFill, Flash Fill
  • Introduction to formatting tools (borders, font, color)
  • Sorting and Filtering basics, fill blanks
  • Find and Replace

Outcome: Participants will apply basic formulas and functions to perform simple calculations and data analysis.

  • Formula structure & cell references (relative, absolute)
  • Arithmetic formulas: SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, MAX
  • COUNT, COUNTA, COUNTIF
  • Simple error handling: #DIV/0!, #VALUE!, #NUM!, #DIV/0!, #REF! and #NULL! and #NAME?

Outcome: Participants will create and customize basic charts to visually represent data effectively.

  • Creating basic charts: Column, Line, Pie
  • Formatting and customizing charts
  • Inserting Sparklines
  • Using Conditional Formatting for visualization

Outcome: Participants will efficiently manage large datasets using sorting, filtering, tables, and save/export workbooks properly.

  • Working with large datasets (Freeze Panes, Zoom & Split)
  • Basic Data Validation (Inserting dropdown lists)
  • Intro to Tables and Table Styles
  • Text functions (LEFT, RIGHT, CONCATENATE, TRIM)
  • Relative vs. absolute references ($A$1)
  • Saving, Printing & Exporting Excel files (PDF, CSV)
